New Years gone and it's all starting to pickup

I've met most of my roommates now. They have all been very friendly and I think we'll have some good times. Sports seems to be the dominant interest for most of them so I'll have some learning to do in order to pick up all the NFL and hockey terminology.

I spent New Years with Brady (a roommate) who had dropped by the dorms in order to pick up some stuff. We went to a frat party and hung out with friends of his from High School. They all live down in White Rock which is near the American border. The party was good fun and my drinking practice served me well in not making a complete ass of myself.

The rest of my time has been spent doing the odd bits of shopping for skiing and cold-weather gear. I've also seen three movies so far: The Life aquatic with Steve Zissou, The Aviator and Blade Trinity. I saw Blade Trinity while a bit drunk and was glad that I'd had the foresight to prepare adequately for it. The Life aquatic should be enjoyed by any true Bill Murray fan but Wes Andersen (the director) fans might be disappointed because it has a slightly different style to some of his other films.

The Aviator was engrossing which is something any 3 hour movie needs on its side. The casting for the film was excellent and talk of Leonardo and Cate Blanchett deserving Oscars isn't unjustified. This is Scorsese's best for a while.

Other than that life has been pretty uneventful. I've been jogging most mornings but I think this last morning was pushing it (-2 deg!). Sweat freezing starts to be an issue that forces me to keep moving. There's some great cheap food on campus so I haven't been cooking too much for myself other than at breakfast.
